Franasiak, who graduated from Radford University in 1990, was awarded The Young Alumnus Merit Award . Citing Radford publications, this award is bestowed upon an alumnus, age 35 or under, who has made significant career achievements, been actively involved with RU programs or has made important civic and volunteer contributions within the community.

Franasiak is the founder and CEO of Calamar Enterprises Inc., a full-service real estate company. Since his graduation from RU, he has been committed to the betterment of his home region of Western New York State through his involvement with economic development committees and boards throughout Niagara County and his continued civic involvement as Chairman of the Greater Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
